The all-new 2013 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid has been rated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to deliver up to an estimated 108 MPGe city, 92 MPGe highway and 100 MPGe combined. Not only is Fusion Energi one of five electrified vehicles offered by Ford, but one of the most technologically-advanced offerings ever delivered by the automaker. “The all-new 2013 Ford Fusion achieved an acceptable rating in the new small overlap front crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The IIHS recently named the Fusion a Top Safety Pick+, the highest recommendation the organization has for vehicle crash safety.
To earn the ‘+’ distinction, Top Safety Pick Plus winners must earn good ratings for occupant protection in at least four of five IIHS evaluations, with no less than acceptable in any test. IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal or poor based on performance in a moderate overlap frontal crash, small overlap frontal crash, side impact and rollover, plus evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts.” [Read more]

“A few years ago, some automakers began offering stop/start technology on select cars as a way to help lower emissions and increase fuel economy in busy city traffic. Early stop/start systems in non-hybrid cars were often slow to respond to driver input, making them unpopular with drivers, but now Ford claims to have solved some of those issues in its 2013 Ford Fusion’s optional stop/start system. Ford says it has filed over 25 patents in developing the 2013 Fusion’s $295 optional extra, and is confident that it has developed a much more usable stop/start solution.” [Read More]
